Our surroundings

La Farinera Sant Lluís is located in the heart of the Alt Empordà, in Pont de Molins, just 20 kilometres from the French border. This estate, devoted to the holding of exclusive events, is very well communicated, as it is only five minutes from the regional capital, Figueres, where you can stroll along its streets, go shopping and visit places as emblematic as the Dalí Museum, the Catalonia Toy Museum and the Castle of Sant Ferran.

40 minutes from La Farinera you have the city of Girona, with its remarkable historic attractions of the Cathedral, the Jewish Quarter, the Arab Baths and more, and also its annual events like the Time of Flowers festival. Finally, La Farinera Sant Lluís is a little more than an hour and a half from Barcelona, a city that offers you countless possibilities: the Gaudí buildings, top-brand shops, and the stadium of F.C. Barcelona.

One of the great attractions of the Empordà is its coastal zone, and close to La Farinera there are idyllic beaches and coves that enchant all their visitors. Some 25 minutes away you have the Bay of Roses, recognised by the UNESCO as one of the most beautiful in the world, with wonderful beaches and coves like L’Almadrava and Cala Montjoi.

We also recommend the beaches of the area of Llançà, Colera and Portbou, some 40 minutes away. Further south, in the Baix Empordà, you will find another very attractive coastal zone: the beaches of Begur, Llafranc and Palamós are spectacular, and we can also recommend Tossa de Mar and Lloret de Mar, coastal towns of La Selva with an extensive range of leisure and tourism attractions.

The Empordà is also a very rich region in cultural terms: in particular, we have to single out the Dalí Triangle formed by the Salvador Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres, the Dalí House-Museum in Portlligat, outside Cadaqués, and Gala Dalí Castle in Púbol, in the Baix Empordà. Just a quarter of an hour from La Farinera you will also find the Castle of Peralada, which contains the Castle Museum, the Glass Museum and the Wine Museum, created in the 1960s.

A little further away, in Girona, you will find a wide range of museums. We recommend the Cinema Museum, which will take you through almost 500 years of history of moving pictures; the Art Museum, where you can admire an exceptional collection of paintings, sculptures and altarpieces, exhibited in the historic building of the Episcopal Palace; the History Museum; and the Masó House, one of the most important works by the architect Rafael Masó.

The nature parks of the lands of Girona are a “must see” for visitors. 20 minutes from La Farinera Sant Lluís you have the Empordà Marshes Nature Park, the second largest in Catalonia, where you will see a wide variety of bird species. 35 minutes away is the Nature Park of the Montgrí, the Medes Islands and the Lower Ter, straddling the Alt and Baix Empordà, which offers three extremely beautiful landscapes in one place.

53 minutes away you will find the Nature Park of the Volcanic Zone of the Garrotxa and the famous Fageda d’en Jordà beechwood: the wooded volcanic zone is fascinating. Finally, a little further away, an hour and seven minutes, you have the Montseny Nature Park, lying between the districts of La Selva, Osona and El Vallès, a landscape that is outstanding for its vegetation and for the existence of the Montseny triton, Catalonia’s sole endemic vertebrate species.
